Maya is waiting to start her education in nursing. She has been learning sign language for the past 6 months and is a member of the organisation Unicef. Hobbies include: playing the piano, handball, soccer and singing in the church choir.

Tell us a little something about your Country ?
Denmark is a small but beautiful country where the Danish population is estimated to be around 5.5 million. It’s a country with great history (Vikings) with great welfare, a monarchy and democracy.

Future ambitions ?
To work as a nurse in the organisation, Doctors Without Borders, and other charitable organisations.

Describe yourself
I consider myself as a sociable, open-minded, curious young woman with great values in life.

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Favourite food ?
I love Italian food but enjoy trying new things too.

Favourite Music / Books ?
I love authentic books! I have just started reading ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’. It is about women in Afghanistan. I like all kinds of music from classical, romantic to modern.

Do you have any pets?
I have a cat named Bianca. She is the sun in my life!

What is the proudest moment of your life or most memorable day?
My most memorable day was when I visited a refugee group at Christmas. I brought presents and spent time playing with the children. I am sure that it was a day they cherished as much as I did.

Special Talents ?
Handball and soccer.

Any other interesting facts ?
I am interested in language. I am a member of UNICEF and a lifesaver for DanChurchAid. I am interested in cancer organisations also.
