What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?

Most definitely dance! I have been dancing for most of my life, through dance I am able to express myself and also explore my creativity. Dance is also a way for me to relax and have fun. I also spend a significant amount of my time reading, mostly indulging in non-fiction books as I love to learn about different people and experiences. I’m a very curious person by nature and love to immerse myself in different scenery and cultural experiences; I enjoy attending musicals, plays, and dance performances. I also really enjoy meeting new people and learning about their lifestyle.

List any special training you have had (music, art, drama, dance, etc.)

I have been trained in many dance styles including Hip Hop, Salsa, and Jazz.

In what sports, if any, have you participated?

I have participated on organized Volleyball and Basketball teams.

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?

My brother has had a significant influence on my life, through his encouragement to express my ideas and opinions. His passion for his art and what he believes in is inspiring. His guidance and friendship, makes the time we spend together, all the more special.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)?

I currently have two. One of my proudest accomplishments was being chosen as the youngest applicant to join the CFL Calgary Stampeder Cheerleading team. I am proud of this achievement because I faced numerous obstacles throughout the entire process. I learned to develop confidence in myself, and to be passionate about my goals. This experience opened up the opportunity for me to teach dance professionally, something I am still passionate about and allows me to expand my knowledge and skill set. I have recently been able to choreograph for opening artists for shows such as Nelly and Ice Cube to name a few.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?

I was born in Ghana, Accra and immigrated to Canada at a very young age. Growing up in a culturally diverse household has widened my prospective and has taught me to be open-minded about other cultures. I feel blessed to have been able to grow up in an environment that encouraged the blending of two cultures, and feel both plays a vital role to how I identify myself. Multiculturalism is such an important part of the Canadian identity, from inception to our current ideals. I am proud to partake in this aspect of Canadian culture.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?

My career ambition is to open an Advertising Agency which focuses on interactive media. This type of Advertising would allow me to offer clients creative solutions in a format that advances with current technology. I’m a Marketing Management graduate and currently work in promotions and marketing for a media/entertainment company in Calgary.

What would be your “dream job” in life?

My dream job would be to own and expand my Advertising Agency internationally, providing the ability to travel and connect with people from all walks of life helping them in their personal and/or professional endeavors.

Are you currently employed?

Yes

If yes, what is your occupation?

I currently work in the promotions/marketing department for Corus Entertainment Radio in Calgary.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.

I was born in Ghana, Accra and immigrated to Canada at a very young age. We first moved to Montreal and then Toronto before finally calling Calgary home. Being the youngest of two children my childhood was great; full of fun, spirituality and laughter! Having a huge extended family located all over the world provided much insight about our family. Some of my fondest childhood memories were the stories my dad would tell us about his travels all over the world, my fascination with his experiences only further fuels my desire to travel.
