Contestants of Miss Universe Canada 2009 - Batch 1

Miss Universe Canada 2009 finals will be held at The Metro Toronto Convention Centre's John Bassett Theatre in Toronto on Saturday May 16 at 7:30pm. The Preliminary competition will be on Thursday May 14th at 8:00pm.

Samantha Tajik, Miss Universe Canada 2008 will crown her successor during the final event. The winner will be representing her country at the Miss Universe 2009 Contest on August 23 at the beautiful island of Nassau, Bahamas.

Miss Panama 2009 Contestants

Realmente Bella Senorita Panama 2009 (Miss Panama 2009) will be held on April 27. The winner will compete representing Panama at Miss World 2009 Beauty Pageant on Johannesburg, South Africa later this December and in Miss Universe 2009 Contest on August 23 at Nassau, Bahamas. Carolina Dementiev (Realmente Bella 2008/Miss Panama 2008) will crown her successor at the event.

Green Fashion Show has just Started

Karla Paula Henry, the reigning Miss Earth 2008 has just arrived in Miami together with Catherine Untalan (Miss Philippines Earth 2006) for the Green Fashion Show. They are welcomed by Luis Trujillo, one of the creators of Green Fashion. Beauty queens from around the world have started arriving in Miami for the event on March 25.

Around 30 beauty queens and delegates representing different beauty pageant organizations will model collections made from eco-friendly and recycled materials by top designers from Latin America and the United States.

Miss World 2008 Ksenia Sukhinova on Eurovision

On May 16th, the 54th Eurovision Song Contest will take place this year in Moscow, Russia. Each contestants will have a "postcard" videos introducing each song competing in the contest) which will feature the reigning Miss World 2008, Ksenia Sukhinova, as decided by the Organizing committee.

Executive Producer Yuri Aksyuta highlighted that the event will take place in the Olympiyski Arena.

It is also rumoured that former Miss Universe 2002 Oxana Fedorova (dethroned) will act as host of the final. Last year, she was in charge of reading the Russian ballots. Confirmation on the hosts will be published soon.

In 2003, Turkey’s Azra Akin (reigning Miss World at the time) also acted as image of the Eurovision Song Contest introductions.

Miss Russia, Sofia Rudieva Scandal

Scandal of Miss Russia 2009, Sofia Rudieva appear on the internet last monday morning in a specialized website called “Perfect10″ which features nude photographs of models where Sofia is fully exposing her breasts in full nude.

It's still unknown if Rudieva will be dethroned or will not represent her country at the Miss Universe 2009 Pageant to be held in Nassau, Bahamas on August 23. The Miss Russia Organization will be releasing a statement soon about this issue.



Other women with similar photos competed in Miss Universe: Joyce Giraud placed 2nd run-up (Puerto Rico 1998), Helen Lindes (Spain 2000) placed 2nd run-up and Evelina Papantoniou (Greece 2001) placed 1st run-up. They all posed nude and controversies surrounded their participation.

Lena Ma wins Miss World Canada 2009

Lena Yanbing Ma was crowned as the new Miss World Canada 2009 in a beauty pageant held last March 21. She will be competing representing her country at the Miss World 2009 Contest on December at Johannesburg, South Africa.

The 1.80m. beauty was from North York, Ontario who currently pursues a Bachelor of Music and Life Sciences.

Close to the title was the runners-up: Nelly Hadi (1st), Sabeen Chaudhary (2nd), Jasmine Pham (3rd), and Patricia Singh (4th).



Special Awards are also given to deserving candidates during the finals such as:
