Miss Hawaii 2012 is Skyler Kamaka (Miss Diamond Head)

21 year old Skyler Kamaka representing Diamond Head won the coveted title of Miss Hawaii 2012 celebrating it's 66th year of scholarship pageantry. Crowning her was Miss Hawaii 2011, Lauren Cheape.

The event was hosted by Bill “Billy V” Van Osdol which took place last June 9 at the Hawaii Convention Center.

“This is the first time I’ve ever entered a pageant, My preliminary pageant (for Miss Diamond Head) was my very first one, and this is my very first Miss Hawaii. I’m just ecstatic right now.” the new beauty queen emotionally speech after receiving the crown.

Skyler also won the Golf Tournament Scholarship and tied with Miss Ala Moana Courtney Kielemaikalani Gaddis for most ticket sales (both women received full sets of prizes for the tie). Gaddis won the scholarship for community service.

Miss Kahala, Moani Hara was finished as 1st run-up and winner of the swimsuit competition. The 2nd run-up spot went to Miss East Oahu, Serena Karnagy. Miss Latina Hawaii, Joleen Iwaniec was 3rd run-up and winner of the talent contest. And lastly, Miss Waikiki, Sarah Correia was finishing as 4th run-up.

Miss Kauai, Lei U‘i Kaholokula voted by her peers as Miss Congeniality. Miss Chinatown Hawaii, Nicky Leong awarded as Miss Photogenic. Miss Honolulu, Carissa Kano received the scholarship for highest academic achievement and Miss Aloha Hawaii, Brandy Shibuya was the recipient of the Children’s Miracle Network Miracle Maker trophy.

As the new titleholder, besides her other duties and responsibilities, the most rewarding prize Skyler will be the official delegate of her Aloha state in Miss America 2013 next year.
