Everybody likes success, and nobody likes to fail however I always turn my failures into a positive experience. Failure is a learning experience as I always learn from my failures. My failures help me to become more determined to succeed. Success always inspires me to continue with my ambitions and to set myself bigger goals. As long as I always try my best and give 100% I feel like a success.
Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.
My growing years were very memorable and happy. My love of books and reading was developed in my growing years by books like The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings by J R Tokien. In my growing years I was also inspired by beautiful glamorous women like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. Since a young age, I have always admired beautiful classy women who dress well and embrace their feminine figures and have aspired to be like them. I was very lucky as a child to experience two different cultures as I spent my growing years between Scotland and Italy. In Scotland, I experienced the traditional Scottish way of life while in Italy I enjoyed a very European cosmopolitan culture. It was during these years that I learned to speak Italian and cook delicious traditional Italian food.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
My growing experiences taught me to always live life to the fullest. That no matter what, if you are determined enough and work hard, you will achieve your goals through hard work. Life is here to be enjoyed and we must embrace the experience. I also learned how lucky I am to have such a good upbringing and in return to give something back with charity works to those who are not as fortunate. Helping others is a great thing to do as the selfless act of helping others teaches you to be humble and grateful for your opportunities in life and to grow as a person. My mother greatly inspired me in my growing years as she is a nurse for people who are severely disabled. Seeing her dedicate her life to working with others less fortunate taught me to always help others and to make time to help others.
What is your most memorable moment?
My most memorable moment was when I survived from a terrible accident. One year during very strong winds the chimney in my house collapsed bringing down the roof of my house. I was trapped in the wreckage of the house by the rubble yet remarkably I was uninjured. It was a miracle that I wasn't hurt. Ever since then the experience has shown me how lucky I am to be alive and embrace every opportunity open to me and live each day to the fullest. Life is a gift which we should always be grateful for, and the best way of expressing this gratitude is to make the most of your life.
As well as nearly dying when I was twelve, winning Miss Earth Scotland was also a life- changing experience. I was overjoyed to have won and I feel this is an opportunity to teach future generations to look after our planet. I was nervous and excited and overwhelmed as they called my name. Miss Earth Scotland has provided me with a very powerful platform in my country to have the message on deforestation and environmental issues heard by a wider audience. I have already started working with local schools to implement the Trees for Life program as well as going to the gym to prepare myself for Miss Earth.
What is your environmental advocacy?
Deforestation must be stopped. Trees are the lungs of the Earth and we need to protect them and respect the valuable role they have in our planet. Across the world we must save more tress. They provide a lifeline for the planet through biodiversity and in cleaning the air that we have polluted. Through education we must relay this message to future generations. Stop deforestation and plant more trees.
