BIO:
I think that success is the result of hard work and that it should be enjoyed. Life is about our personal successes, however small they may seem. Failure is usually a stepping stone to our next success. We can learn from our failures-they teach us to appreciate success when it comes our way. Failure shows the bravery to try in the first place. If failure is feared, one would never take chances, take risks, and would miss opportunities to grow as a person.

Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.

My growing years were very enjoyable. I lived in the countryside of Ireland so I usually enjoyed my free time outdoors. My friends and I had fields to explore, trees to climb, and flowers to pick! I remember education seemed a chore at the time, unlike now, as I thoroughly enjoy university. As an energetic child, I much preferred physical education to being enclosed in a classroom. I really enjoyed reading in my spare time and often escaped off to different worlds by going to my bedroom to read for hours and hours! I had two younger sisters and lots of cousins who I had to be a role model for. I feel being the eldest in my family has made me a responsible individual.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?

I learned that the most important things to me in life are family and friendships. I also learned that goals often require a sacrifice. Education is very important to me and nothing in this world worth having comes easy. I also learned that moving to Scotland for university was challenging at first, but in time was a lot easier. I am now on the path to my dream career, one of my life goals. Patience, independence and self belief were the main lessons I learned from my growing experiences.

What is your most memorable moment?

One of my most memorable events in my life to date was graduating from university. I studied in Galway, in the scenic west of Ireland. Leaving there to go to further my studies in another country was very difficult. It was very sad to say goodbye to all the lifelong friends that I had made. I remember happy celebrations which were so much fun, with my friends and family. I remember the journey as I left, and how sad I was to leave behind what was a very important stage of my life. I still feel nostalgic when I return there and hope to visit it frequently as the years go on. It is one of the most beautiful places in Ireland.

What is your environmental advocacy?

My environmental advocacy is that small changes are the way to big differences. These small changes can be implemented in the way that we ourselves do things in our everyday lives. However changes need also be made in the areas of education and advertising. Research and design of new products and infrastructure need to incorporate an environmental attitude. We need to enforce the importance of these changes now, so that we can save the future of our planet and the future of our children. We have nowhere else to go.
