BIO:
FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT MY HOMETOWN/COUNTRY:
Ooh Ooh Junkanoo! This would be one of my favorite things about The Bahamas. I truly love that this uniquely Bahamian festival brings our people together and ignites a passion for expressing culture through music and dance. Junkanoo represents life and freedom in our country dating back so many years, and continues to attract visitors from around the world to join in on the celebration. The magic behind eight exhilarating hours in the early morning when the streets are filled with a kaleidoscope of colors coupled with beautiful music is something that we will carry with us forever!

LIFE’S AMBITIONS:
My life’s ambition is to be fully involved in the service of Bahamian youth and my country. Knowing how important opportunity is to success, I aspire to create dynamic opportunities and programs for the future leaders and entrepreneurs in our country, while being a catalyst in catapulting our country to new heights, through effective marketing and education.

HOBBIES:
My hobbies include public speaking, writing, playing with my puppy Lola, spending time with family, community service, modeling, and traveling to new and exciting places.

MY GOALS IN LIFE:
My main goal in life is to always strive for true happiness. True happiness comes with praising God, being comfortable in my own skin, living out my purpose, and appreciating everything that life has to offer, regardless of the trials and tribulations I may face.

MY BEST ASSET:
My best asset is my smile. I believe that my smile is infectious, creating positive energy, and has the ability to brighten a person’s day. Smiling helps to affirm that everything will be okay, which is very powerful.

MY DAILY PHILOSOPHY:
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." God gives us the ability to work hard and dream big; it is up to us to take advantage of this and believe in him. Nothing is impossible!

THE MOVIE (AND/OR BOOK) THAT MOST INFLUENCED MY LIFE:
‘Something The Lord Made’ is a movie that most influences my life for so many reasons. It is an amazing story of hard work, dedication, perseverance, and fighting against the odds to save lives. The life of Vivien Thomas is a prominent example of how powerful a person’s purpose really is. Despite racial inequality in 1930, as an African-American Vivien help to boldly attack the Blue Baby Syndrome resulting in the first ever heart surgery. I am inspired by this true story as it perfectly aligns with my philosophy to work hard and be passionate about what you believe in; you never know whose life you could positively affect.

WHO WOULD I LIKE TO MEET AND WHY:
One person I would like to meet is Halle Berry. Sounds strange, but Halle Berry can truly be defined as a strong woman. From a beauty queen, to an actress and model, to a mother; she has shown the world that a woman can accomplish anything once she puts her mind to it. Even though Halle Berry has come across setbacks, she persevered through it all and even became the first African-American woman to receive the best leading actress Academy Award. In meeting Halle Berry, I would take the opportunity to ask questions about her success.

I AM MOTIVATED BY:
Lately, I have been motivated by fear. We all fear something; but if we let it deter us from going after our dreams or interests, we risk not being able to discover ourselves or our purpose. As a result, my fear of dreaming big motivates me to dream even more, and my fear of failure motivates to me to work harder to achieve my goals.

WHAT I WOULD LIKE THE JUDGES TO KNOW ABOUT ME IS:
I would like the judges to know that they can always expect the best of me. Every day I am preparing myself to be the best person that I can be so that I accomplish my goal of being a great representative for my beautiful country. All of my life’s preparation is mixed with prayer, passion, purpose and service; the things I stand behind! I would also like the judges to know that I love to make people laugh.

MY COMMUNITY SERVICE/ACHIEVEMENTS ARE:
My principal community service achievement was in 2007 when I spearheaded and led the C.A.S.H (Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope) program for the entire community in Elmira, New York. The goal of the program is provide opportunities to workers with low incomes to obtain, grow, and maintain economic assets. As a result, I put together a team to help families collect their tax refunds and credits without spending money on tax preparation. Once families received the money owed to them, I put together seminars for these families to open savings accounts, get health insurance, and learn about proper budgeting. My work with this initiative was nominated for the prestigious Margaret Locke Community Service prize at Elmira College, which I was awarded. Other community service endeavors include:
Elmira College/Sunshine Insurance Scholarship Essay Competition – Led and judged the essays and presentations of student’s ideas on how to boost the Bahamian economy.
New Day Store – Working with students at a primary school in New York to open their own in-school convenience store, teaching the fundamentals of entrepreneurship.
Elizabeth Estates Children’s Home – Teaching economics, entrepreneurship, and spreading financial literacy to 9th to 12th graders.
