INTERVIEW:

What environmental project will you create to promote the protection of Mother Earth and why?
Currently I am studying for my Bachelor of Build Environment. So my dream is, after I finish school, I can develop environmental friendly buildings and build these buildings the environmental way.

What makes you proud of your country and what can you promote about it?
I am proud of the water management in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is known for their brilliant technology of water management. A nickname for the Netherlands is Land of Water. Three-fourths of our country is below sea level. We constantly improve the quality of our dikes. The combination of dikes and water create chances for green energy. Keeping the water clean is another Dutch priority. Even our crown prince Willem Alexander studied Water management at the University of Leiden. He is married to princess Maxima and with her Latina roots coming from Argentina many of our Dutch people see her as example as she is also involved in many projects for children and a better environment.

Describe your childhood/growing years:
I grew up in a warm and lovely family. I have one brother who has always has been my best friend. My parents tell me almost every day that they love me and that they are so proud of me. I have always been daddy’s little princess. As a kid I loved to play tennis. Tennis was my life. Me and my team became the champions of the South Netherlands when I was 12. I was the captain at that time. The next year I got injured (kids rheumatism) and that was the end of my tennis dreams. I am glad to tell you that it has no consequences in my health today. My cure was time. At primary school I was busy being a child. I liked to play in the woods and other activities. I wasn’t a Nintendo kid. At secondary school I was sick often, but I wanted a diploma so bad. I chose Economics and Society and graduated in 2009.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
Life is a blessing and the same with being healthy. We have the opportunity to have certain privileges such as a house made of stone with good materials. We have a good health care. Good health is one of the major priorities which make life a lot easier. I am blessed to have such great and loving parents and brother. They make me proud. I am also grateful for having this life. I’m privileged for being healthy at this moment. I know how it feels when you’re always sick and in pain. So I would like to send courage and good health to people all over the world. When I look around the world is see that there are many people that are not as privileged as I am. We need to take care of the people who need our help.

What is your most memorable moment?
My most memorable moment was my prom. I felt so pretty, proud and happy that I got my diploma. All my beloved ones were there. It was the first time I had to wear an evening grown. And I promised myself at that moment that this wasn’t the last time I had to wear one.

What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose it?
I believe that it is important to invest in solar, wind and water energy. We have the duty to take care of Mother Earth. Our children and their children have the right to live in a green and healthy planet. My dream is to live in a neutral energy world.

What tip can you share to promote sustainable energy for all?
That all governments should invest in solar, wind and water energy. These types of energy won’t harm Mother Earth.

Other information that you would like to share with the Miss Earth Management:
Last year my brother had a car accident. He had to stay at the intensive care for three days. This accident opened my eyes. And I enjoy living life everyday and I am very excited to participate in Miss Earth 2012.
