Nineteen young women from Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia took part in the national finals of the 20th annual Miss Czech Republic beauty contest. Brno's Bobycentr, the venue for the event, also hosted most of the competition’s past winners including Taťána Kuchařová, who afterwards went on to win the 2006
Miss World beauty pageant.

20-year-old Zuzana Jandova of Karvina was recently crowned as the new Miss Czech Republic 2008. She stands 180 cm, and will be representing the Czech Republic at the 58th
Miss World beauty contest, to take place in Kiev, Ukraine on October this year. Attending the event and congratulating the winners are the President of

Miss World from China
Zi Lin Zhang and the former
Miss World of 2006 also from Czech Republic, Tatana Kucharova.
Miss Ostrava, Zuzana Putnarova, a 22 year old stunner was named as the first runner-up and will be competing in Macau for
Miss International Beauty Pageant 2008. While Kristyna Lebedova, a 19-year-old student from Zlín, was chosen as second runner up and will compete in the Miss Europe pageant.
