Megan Young awarded as “People of the Year” in the Philippines

The reigning Miss World 2013 Megan Lynne Young received the prestigious ‘People of the Year Award’ in the Philippines, after claiming top spot in People Asia’s People of The Year list, as revealed in the magazine’s December issue last year.

The Raffles and Fairmont Makati Hotel in Manila played host to esteemed guests and celebrities from across the nation who gathered to celebrate the achievements of the Philippines’ brightest and best.

14 awards were presented during the event led by President Benigno Aquino III, with Megan receiving the official “Person of the Year” award. The President said Megan was an ‘inspiration to her generation’’ going on to praise Megan’s accomplishments at Miss World 2013 and the pride bestowed upon the Philippines through her victory. He went on to commend her enduring efforts to help all those around her affected by Typhoon Yolanda, especially her international fundraising efforts alongside various organizations.

Megan graciously accepted her award from Vice President Jejomar Binay and is overjoyed with her award.
