Miss Ecuador 2011 Official Contestants

Miss Ecuador 2011 pageant will be held on March 17 at Recinto Ferial de Santo Domingo, Santo Domingo de los Colorados. The show will be broadcast live by Gama TV and to be hosted by Roberto Rodriguez. The reigning Lady Fernanda Mina will crown her successor during the pageant proper.

The winner will represent Ecuador at Miss Universe 2011 to be held on September 12 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Miss Mundo Ecuador 2011 will compete at Miss World 2011 competition while Miss Internacional Ecuador 2011 will enter the Miss International 2011.

The 1st run-up will compete in Miss Empresarial 2011 and the 2nd run-up will be enter the Miss Atlantico Internacional 2012 next year.

Miss Dominica 2011 winner is Jacintha Fagan

23 year old Jacintha Fagan won the Miss Dominica 2011 beauty pageant held on March 4. She was crowned by Marcia Baptiste, Miss Dominica 2010 winner.

Jacintha Fagan will represent Dominica at Miss Caribbean World 2011 contest on May 21.

The 1st run-up was Earlene Labassiere and the 2nd run-up was Roselia Bazil.

Dagmar Kolesarova wins Miss Universe Slovenskej Republiky 2011

20 year old Dagmar Kolesarova from Revuca is the new winner of Miss Universe Slovak Republic / Slovakia 2011 or locally known as Miss Universe Slovenskej Republiky 2011 beauty pageant held on March 6. She was crowned by Miss Universe Slovenskej Republiky 2010, Anna Amenova.

Standing 5'10" tall, Dagmar Kolesarova will represent Slovak Republic at Miss Universe 2011 beauty pageant to be held on September 12 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The 1st run-up was Romana Prochazkova and will compete at Miss Earth 2011 competition.

Miriama Matusova was the 2nd run-up and will enter the Miss Supranational 2011 contest.

* Miss Universe Slovenskej Republiky 2011 Contestants

Miss Suomi 2011 winner is Pia Pakarinen

20 year old Pia Pakarinen from Joensuu was crowned as the new Miss Finland 2011 or locally known as Miss Suomi 2011 beauty pageant held on March 5. She was crowned by Viivi Pumpanen, Miss Suomi 2010.

Pia Pakarinen stands 5'7" tall and will represent Finland at the Miss Universe 2011 beauty pageant to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 12.

The 1st run-up was Sara Sieppi who will compete at Miss World 2011 contest.

Entering the Miss International 2011 competition is the 2nd run-up, Niina Lavonen.

* Miss Suomi 2011 Candidates

Natalya Kantemurova wins Miss Russia 2011

19 year old Natalya Kantemurova from Moscow was crowned as the new Miss Russia 2011 in a beauty pageant held on March 5 in Moscow. She was crowned by Miss Russia 2010, Irina Antonenko and Ximena Navarette, the reigning Miss Universe 2010 from Mexico.

Standing 5'11 1/2" tall, Natalya Kantemurova will represent Russia in Miss Universe 2011 beauty pageant to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 12 and/or in Miss World 2011 contest.

The 1st run-up or “Vice-Miss” is Anastasia Mashukova from Krasnoyarsk. And the 2nd runner-up is Yana Dubnik from Novosibirsk.

* Miss Russia 2011 Contestants

Roxanne Cabanero kicked out of Bb. Pilipinas 2011

As of March 2, 2011, Roxanne Cabanero has been removed from the official list of the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 Contestants over a photo scandal.

Recently, a website claimed that the woman in the picture was Roxanne Cabanero. However, the beauty queen hopeful denied picture.

In a TV interview, Cabanero said that she was actually the one who approached Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BPCI) to report the scandal.

According to her, she underwent an investigation conducted by BPCI itself.

However, she was suddenly caught off guard when she was asked by a BPCI lawyer to just drop from the competition to quell the speculations.

Roxanne Cabanero said that BPCI’s decision is not fair since, she said, she is the victim in the incident.

"I really hope that BPCI should give consideration that this is really my long time dream (becoming a beauty queen), and then it's not easy to go this process. It hurts" she said.

In the end, Roxanne has no choice but to leave the pageant because of pressure. She approached the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to help her identify the controversial blogger who posted her alleged photo.

Meanwhile, BPCI maintained that they merely implemented their rules and regulations.

They said they are stringent in screening their candidates, and if an incident such as this happens, they quickly call the attention of those involved.

“Bb. Pilipinas is governed by stringent rules and policies that are acceptable internationally. We strive to be very thorough in our screening but when violations or misinterpretations albeit deliberate or not unravel, we call the candidates’ attention to the matter," BPCI said.

BPCI said it is hoping “that all speculations regarding this incident will cease as BPCI is not inclined to delve into the issue any further in order to preserve the integrity of the pageant and the reputation of the concerned parties.”

Michael Kevin Holtz, raised in Naples, FL, has been swimming competitively since the age of six, and swimming for a cause for the last five years. In 2008, Michael was inspired to swim the English Channel, which led to the implementation of two of the first-ever, open-water, long-distance swims on both the East and West coasts to raise money for LGBT equality.

Not only an athlete, but also involved in band and other scholastic social clubs throughout middle and high school, Holtz has a well-rounded understanding of the skills it takes to make people believe in you and

want to follow you – a true leader and a true believer in his cause of equality for all. Holtz has had the fortune of volunteering and fundraising for organizations such as Equality California, The Stonewall Foundation and The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, and by doing so, building his fan base of people of all ages and sexual orientations.

As Holtz continues his work of building MKH2O Productions, elevating this concept to a nationwide series of open-water swim events to the organizations that are on the ground everyday battling for equality and acceptance for our community, the LGBT community will begin to have a new face of hope, that of an inspiring, young, gay male athlete who has accomplished much in a short amount of time.

Holtz is a graduate of Fordham University who currently resides in Los Angeles.
