50 Official Contestants of Miss Russia 2009 (Batch 1)

Miss Russia 2009 Beauty Pageant will be held March 7, 2009 where 50 stunning women will compete for the title. The winner will be crowned by the reigning Miss Russia 2008, Ksenia Sukhinova (also the reigning Miss World 2008).

The winners of the contest will be sent to compete internationally at the Miss Universe 2009 to be held at the islands of the Bahamas and to Miss World 2009 Pageant.

Batch 2   Sofia Rudieva wins Miss Russia 2009   Scandal

Genesis Barrientos was crowned Nuestra Belleza Hispana USA 2009

Miss New York, Genesis Barrientos was crowned Nuestra Belleza Hispana USA 2009 (Miss Hispanic USA 2009) in a beauty pageant held at the Aaron Davis Hall of the City College. She was crowned by the last year's winner Glenys Sanchez.

Genesis will promote AIDS/HIV prevention and fight against domestic violence as part of her role as the new titleholder. She will also travel to Santa Cruz, Bolivia to compete for Hispanic-American Queen 2009 (Reina Hispanoamericana 2009) Contest.



Yuleiky Mena, Miss Pennsylvania was the 1st run-up while Dania Martinez, Miss Illinois was the 2nd run-up.

One of the special guest and also serve as one of the board of judges was the reigning Reina Hispanoamericana 2008, Vivian Noronha Cia of Brazil

Miss Costa Rica 2009 Beauty Pageant will be held on March 27 where the reigning winner Maria Teresa Rodriguez (photo top) will crown her successor. The winner will be sent to compete at the Miss Universe 2009 Contest to be held in the beautiful islands of the Bahamas later this August.

Nine lovely candidates are vying to be crowned as the new Miss Cook Islands 2009. The pageant will be held this April where the winner will be given a chance to compete internationally for the Miss Earth 2009 Contest to be held probably in Manila, Philippines. The new Miss Cook Islands 2009 will be crowned by the reigning winner Krystina Te-Rangi Elizabeth Kauvai (photo, top).

The Green Fashion - Miami 2009

The first ever Green Fashion show will be held at Miami Beach, Florida on the 25th of March. It will be a kick-off event for Funkfashion 2009 for the fashion week. Top designers from USA and Latin America will present their collection made from recycled materials. Models will be from contestants and titleholders from major international contests such as Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Earth Pageants, among of them are Miss Colombia Taliana Vargas (1st runner-up of Miss Universe 2008), Ada dela Cruz (Miss Dominican Republic World 2007), Miss Venezuela Mundo 2007, Hannelys Quintero (Miss World Americas 2008) and Tamara Almeida Silva, Miss World Brazil 2008.

Also includes the titleholders Miss World 1995, Jacqueline Aguilera of Venezuela and Miss Universe 2003, Amelia Vega of the Dominican Republic are also expected to be part of the show.



One of the highlights of the show will be the awarding of “Environmentalist of the year”. Green Fashion Miami is a celebration of creativity, beauty and action. A magical night, where international designers and beauty queens will come together to present a new fashion trend and share the same goal: promoting environment protection. The show will be held at the Funkshion 2009 tent, located on Ocean Drive and 10th Street at 8pm. It will be followed by a V.I.P after party.

Sandra Inez Seifert is disqualified in Bb. Pilipinas 2009

Binibining Pilipinas 2009 Pageant Candidates #13 Sandra Inez Seifert was disqualified because the organizers found out that she posed in a men's magazine before (FHM October 2007 Issue). It is one of the rules of the Bb. Pilipinas Contest that a aspiring candidate should be "single, of good moral character, at least a high school graduate, must be at least 5-foot-5-inches in height, with pleasing personality, and must be a Filipino citizen" to qualify to join.

The final coronation night will be held on Saturday, March 7. Only two days before they disqualify Sandra.

Karla Paula Henry in Energy Development Corporation

Miss Earth 2008, Karla Paula Henry from the Philippines together with the Miss Philippines-Earth 2008 runners-up are in Energy Development Corporation harnesses geothermal energy. They have major wildlife conservation programs. They also have an ongoing mangrove project.

Miss Earth Foundation Inc. looks forward partnering with them regarding the book "Bakawan".

The Bahamas, host Country of Miss Universe 2009

Officially announced by the Prime Minister of the Bahamas last Monday, Feb 2 at the House of Assembly that the island of the Bahamas will host Miss Universe 2009 Beauty Pageant this year, said in a press release sent by the Miss Bahamas Universe Organization through its public relations officer, Ms. Monalisa Thompson.

"This is a dream come true for the Bahamas and could not have come in a better time", said Ms. Gaynell Stubbs, National Director for the Miss Bahamas Pageant.

This year's Miss Bahamas Universe 2009 Contest will be held later this May, and the winner will try to have it's first ever semifinalist in Miss Universe

Miss Universe 2009 final event and telecast will be held at the beautiful Atlantis Paradise Resort, maybe on August 30 (to be confirmed) where 81 of the most beautiful women in the world are expected to compete in today's second most watched international beauty pageant in the world, reaching a global audience close to 1 billion people.
