Thailand to Host the Miss Universe 2018 Pageant

Last July 31, Paula Shugart, the President of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) announced at a press conference in Bangkok that the 67th Miss Universe Competition will take place in Thailand. The country's Minister of Tourism and Sports, Weerasak Kowsurat attended the media briefing, which was also graced by the reigning Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and former winners, Natalie Glebova (2005) and Thailand's very own Apasra Hongsakula (1965), Speaking to the media, Shugart revealed that Miss Universe Organization gave "sole proprietorship" to local company, TW Investment Group to stage this year's competition.

"I would like to thank the minister and the government and we know that 13 is actually a lucky number for Miss Universe in Thailand as it is happening every 13 years," Shugart said, referring to Thailand's third hosting stint. The Kingdom of Smiles also hosted the competition in 1992 and 2005.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha welcomed the organizers' choice of Thailand. "It's a good thing that their officials see Thailand's potential," Prayuth said. "If we can organize it and there are no problems with various agreements, then the government is happy to support it," she added.

The 2018 Miss Universe Competition will take place on December 17th at 7am (to be shown live on FOX at 8pm on December 16th) at the Muang Thong Thani Complex. Miss Universe 2017, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters will crown her successor at the during the event.

USA's Dario Duque wins Mister Global 2018

19 year old Dario Duque of the United States of America defeated 34 other contestants to win the title of Mister Global 2018. The grand finale of the pageant was originally scheduled to take place on the 21st of July 2018 but due to some unavoidable circumstances, the pageant was postponed to take place a day after, July 22nd which was held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Dario is working as a professional model, a lifeguard and is currently studying paramedics. He previously won Iconic Model Search Florida 2017.

First runner-up position went to Mister Egypt, Ahmed Lasheen whereas the second runner-up place was given to Mister Poland, Jakub Kucner. Mister South Africa, Dwayne Geldenhuis and Host delegate Mister Thailand, Staporn Moollisan bagged the third and fourth runners-up respectively.

Francesca Mifsud wins Miss Universe Malta 2018

22 year old Francesca Mifsud from Zejtun competed against 24 other gorgeous candidates and was crowned Miss Universe Malta 2018 last July 13.

Francesca also won the Best Physique award. She is currenty a law student and placed fourth in the Miss Universe Malta 2016 contest. She will now be the official representative of the country at the upcoming Miss Universe 2018 pageant later this year.

Lyann Iles finished in second place and Marilena Gauca came in third.

Dee-Ann Rogers wins Miss Universe Great Britain 2018

25 year old Dee-Ann Rogers was crowned Miss Universe Great Britain last July 14 at the Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre in Newport.

Dee-Ann was a former Miss Anguilla and is a sports fanatic who competed in the Commonwealth Games. She will now be representing Great Britain at the upcoming Miss Universe 2018 pageant later this year.

Simren Vernon and Cara Frew finished as first and second runners-up respectively. Completing the top 5 finalists were Maria Gardner and Vicky Turner.

Miss Myanmar World 2018 is Han Thi

21 year old Han Thi was crowned Miss Myanmar World 2018 last July 14 at the Yay Kuu Amplified Broadcast Centre in Yangon.

Han Thi studied before at Myanmar Imperial College and currently studying at Stamford International University. She speaks Mandarin Chinese, Myanmar, English and Korean. She also works as an actress,model and singer.

Han Thi represented her country at Miss Supranational 2014 where she finished in the top 10 and won the continental title for Asia and Oceania. She will now be the official representative of Myanmar at the Miss World 2018 pageant in Sanya, China this coming November.

Lin Kalayar Oo and Ya Mone were the runners-up.
